“Hope is the starting point of progress—it’s what turns obstacles into opportunities.”

Welcome!

It has been said that people can live 40 days without food, 3 days without water, 8 minutes without oxygen, but 1 second without hope. Hope is essential for life. That belief has guided my work as a counselor and community leader for decades. Again and again, I have seen how one act of kindness, one leader's example, can transform lives in ways that ripple far beyond what they ever imagined.

Hope changes people. The Holders of Hope Foundation was created to shine a light on everyday heroes, the ones whose service, kindness, faith, and integrity strengthen our communities and inspire us all to rise a little higher.

This vision was strengthened through my work alongside former Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams and his Kindness Initiative, which showed that when people are reminded of the good around them, they become more courageous, more generous, and more hopeful.

The Holders of Hope Awards are more than just recognitions. They are a reminder that hope is alive and well in our neighborhoods, our organizations, our institutions, and in the hearts of those who choose to serve.

My hope is that through these stories of leadership and compassion, each of us will be encouraged to ask: How can I become a Holder of Hope for someone else?

Thank you for joining this movement.
